Apple has been make distance itself from by moving its manufacturing and assembling plants to India and other countries.

A small units of locally manufactured iPhone 11 has already shipped to retail stores, but the production is currently limited. Apple, in general has strong desire to sale up its local production efforts in India. The local production of current iPhone 11 models clarify Apple’s further commitment to India. The company explores ways to cuts its reliance on China, which produce the wide majority of iPhone models today.

Apple’s contract manufacturing partner, Taiwan- Wistron, first starting assembling older iPhone models in 2017. But now, Apple has not been able to have an assembly partner that produce the latest generation iPhone models in India. Wistron, has locally assemble older iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s models in the past in its Bangalore plant and currently assembles iPhone XR. Apple discontinued the local production of iPhone SE and iPhone 6s in 2019.
