Amazon Smart Plug launched in India ‘Alexa, turn on the fan’

Amazon Smart Plug is now available in India, starting for 1,999 INR.

On Wednesday, Amazon launched its another smart home device called “Smart Plug”. It can also works on Alexa that allows you to control select appliances through voice commands.

The Smart Plug is available at price of 1,999 INR, so people can buy this Plug via e-commerce platform starting today. People can also purchase the Smart Plug offline at Amazon Kiosks in Mumbai and Bangalore as well as in select Croma and Reliance Digital outlets. The company is also bundling the Smart Plug for 999 INR with the Echo Dot speaker.

The company said, with Amazon Smart Plug customers can control their connected appliances even when they’re not next to their appliances by using Alexa app. For example, turn off TV to regulate kids TV time or turn on aquarium filter while not at home.

Features of Amazon Smart Plug

Amazon Smart Plug works with various variety of appliances such as table fans, electric kettle, lamps, room coolers, televisions, air-purifiers, mobile charger, soundbars etc. The company said that it works with those home appliances that have physical power on/off switch. This product does not support heavy appliances such as geysers, water pumps, AC or heaters.

The company says, it optimized the smart plug for Indian users. It comes with 3-pin socket design. It has 6A power rating and comes with state retention feature which helps the appliances go back to their last state that is switched on or off in case of power outage and resumption.

To set up the Smart Plug, just easily plug the device into an electrical socket. You can pair the device by using official Alexa mobile app.

Once pairing is complete so you can command your smart speaker to control the appliances for example “Alexa, turn off/on the fan”.
