Amazon India expanding packaging free shipping (PFS) based on order’s parameters like location of the customers, distance taken for delivery and category of ordered product. Products like home product, shoes, luggage, technology accessories and others could be shipped packaging free.
On Wednesday Amazon India said it has expanded packaging free shipping services in over 100 cities. Where reusable bags will be used to deliver goods. As for sustainable solutions, PFS was already launched in nine cities in June last year. India was the first market where PFS services was launched by Amazon.
According to Statement more than 40 per cent of Amazon customers orders shipped from Amazon India fulfilment centres are now packaging-free which reduced the packaging time. With PFS multiple customers orders are safely transported in reusable bags.
According to Company the PFS algorithm leverages technology and is applied to order based parameters like location of coustomers, distance for delivery and category of product ordered.
Product like technology accessories, home and homes accessories products, shoes, luggage and others. Personal care, liquids, fragile items which need additional protection during transportation continue to be shipped with packaging.
“At Amazon India, we are aggressively working towards building innovative and sustainable packaging solution which will help us minimise waste. We have been working with several brands to provide e-commerce friendly packaging to furhter reduce use of secondary packaging,” Amazon India Director (Customer Fulfilment and Supply Chain) Prakash Kumar Dutta said.
